CO₂ foam fracturing is a mixture of gas and liquid mixture fracturing system. It is a mixture of liquid carbon dioxide and water-based fracturing fluid that vaporized at a certain temperature to form a foam like stable liquid. 

Due to the high foam content and less liquid phase, the liquid filled with foam greatly reduces the amount of fluid contacting with the formation, controls and reduces the filtration loss, when liquid is discharged from the well, the carbon dioxide from the foam is released from the cracks, which accelerates the recovery of liquid in the cracks and improves the flowback rate, minimizes damage to reservoir.
